Google unveiled its second-generation Nexus 7 tablet a couple of days ago and the company had announced that the Nexus 7 2 will be available in US from July 30. However, Best Buy one of the official retailers of the slate has jumped the gun and has started shipping out the tablet to those who pre-ordered it.

The Nexus 7 is also available in the Best Buy stores if you are planning to pick it up in person. Google has also revealed the pricing of the device and, as expected, the 16 GB model would cost you $230, while the 32 GB comes with a price tag of $270.

In case you are looking at the specifications, the Nexus 7 comes with a 1920 x 1200 resolution display and features a Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset with 1.5 GHz quad-core Krait processor and 2 GB of RAM. i-mate: Working on an Intel-based, Windows 8 handset

The Dubai-based manufacturer i-mate might be planning a grand return to the smartphone scene after several years in the doldrums. According to a recent report, the company, which made a name for itself by selling HTC-made, Windows Mobile devices in the middle of last decade, is set to unveil an Intel Clover Trail based smartphone, which will boot Windows 8 Pro, not Windows Phone 8.
The smartphone will carry the name i-mate Intelegent. It is reportedly set to pack 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a 4.7" display of unknown resolution. The most important trick up the i-mate Intelegent's sleeve will be the ability to offer full Windows 8 experience via an optional docking system. The latter will offer a 23" touch-enabled display, keyboard, mouse, and a wireless tablet with 10" 1080p display.

The price of the smartphone alone is said to be $750. Should you choose to go for the desktop station, prepare to fork out $1,600.

According to the CEO of i-mate, Mr. Jim Morrison, there's a factory in California ready to produce 10,000 units a week of the Intelegent. The CEO also told the Seattle Times that the i-mate Intelegent will be showcased during MWC.

Doodle News: Asteroid Doodle removed

Google explained to ABC News: "Out of respect for those injured in the extraordinary meteor shower in Russia earlier today, we have removed today's doodle from the Google home page." (ABC also reported that many scientists believed the Russian meteorite was not a fragment of Asteroid 2012 DA14 and that the events were not related.) The removal of the doodle doesn't mean it no longer exists. This is the Web. And this is Google. So you know it has to be secreted somewhere. In fact, you can find it on this Google page. (Sometimes the animation works, sometimes it doesn't.) There is no algorithm that can predict these unfortunate coincidences.

It's not easy to celebrate a near miss on the day of an actual hit. Google discovered this yesterday. The company was very keen to offer another of its highly involving doodles for your weekend enjoyment.
Its nerd-leaning artists thought it might be fun to create a little something that cheered the fact that Asteroid 2012 DA14 wasn't going to strike Earth and create havoc.

Sadly, an ill-timed meteorite did strike Earth and create havoc. Which meant that Google's doodle suddenly seemed in poor taste. It had, however, entered the firmament enough for the sharp eyes at Search Engine Land to espy it. The doodle was very simple. The second G in "Google" came to life on noticing a disturbance; leaped in shock; then hopped aside just in time to avoid the incoming Asteroid 2012 DA14, which plunged through the hole left by the fleeing letter. Then the G, with danger past, hopped back into place.
